WINTER WEDDING STORY
Snow, Mountains & a Love Story
Photography & Story by Nicola · La Clusaz & Chamonix, December
Chapter One — The Wedding Day

Their wedding was in La Clusaz, a place completely new to me. As a French Alps wedding photographer, I’m used to mountains, but this place had its own magic.
Chelsea and George started planning their winter wedding with me months before the snow even arrived.
We spent a long time discussing how to create their dream snowy wedding day – something truly intimate, a winter mountain wedding that felt personal and relaxed, not staged.
This time it wasn’t in Chamonix. It was La Clusaz, a village I hadn’t shot in before, and one I immediately fell for.
“The moment I saw it, I knew.”
They had booked the most incredible chalet, and while I was researching the area, I discovered a small lake just five minutes up the road.
The sun fell perfectly across the snow, the mountains framed the view, and it was easy enough to reach without disturbing the calm of the place.
One of those locations that simply feels meant to be.

When the day arrived, everything came together beautifully with the winter light, their incredible group of friends, and that relaxed energy that makes a wedding feel truly special.
And by the end of the day… The belly laughs said it all. Moments like that are the ones you remember forever.
Honestly, the most perfect way to begin the season and a reminder of why I love being a winter wedding photographer in the French Alps.

The original plan for Chelsea and George’s wedding day was a husky sled ride through the snow.
And I was genuinely so excited about it.
“If you spend enough time in the mountains, you learn one thing quickly: the conditions can change fast.”
Within the space of a week, we went from not enough snow to too much snow, to suddenly almost none again.
So we had to pivot.

We took the little red cogwheel train that slowly climbs through the mountains, wrapping its way up the cliffs until the views suddenly open up all around you.
360 degrees of alpine beauty.

After spending time up there, we came back down into the historic streets of Chamonix just as the light began to change.
And that sunset…
It lit the entire valley in the most incredible way.

“Sometimes the original plan doesn’t happen. But in the mountains, those changes often lead to something even better.”
A beautiful way to end the day and the perfect start to their new life together.
This was my first winter wedding of the season. What a beautiful couple of days it was.
