Chamonix Weddings – Mont Blanc Weddings Guide to Wedding Planning

Planning a destination wedding in the mountains is a dream for many couples, and Chamonix weddings offer an unforgettable setting with breathtaking views. But how do you bring your vision to life in a place as unique as the Alps? I sat down with Mont Blanc Weddings, a team of experienced planners specialising in the region, to get their expert advice.

Whether you’re searching for the perfect venue, looking for an eco-conscious planner, or wondering about the cheapest destination wedding locations, this interview is packed with useful insights to help you create your dream wedding.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about Mont Blanc Weddings?

We started out 15 years ago, helping UK couples who dreamed of getting married in France but needed a bit of guidance when it came to working with local suppliers—especially since many didn’t speak English. Alongside our event company, Origyne, the growing demand for weddings—driven by our website and word-of-mouth from venues and vendors—naturally led us to focus on destination weddings.

What’s your wedding booking process?

Our process is simple. When couples inquire, we arrange a video call to understand their vision and ensure we’re the right fit. Chemistry and trust are key—once we connect, the decision to move forward often happens naturally.

What makes Chamonix such a special place for weddings?

Chamonix offers a wedding experience that’s truly one of a kind. Surrounded by stunning mountain scenery year-round, it creates an unforgettable setting for any celebration. What really sets it apart is how easy it is to reach those incredible views—imagine taking a lift up to a glacier and saying your vows with that breathtaking backdrop.

There’s a natural mix of adventure and elegance here, making it an ideal choice for couples who want a mountain wedding that feels both personal and extraordinary.

How is Mont Blanc Weddings different from other planners?

We focus on two things: elegance and eco-responsibility. Sustainability is a huge part of what we do, ensuring couples can enjoy a stunning celebration while minimizing their environmental impact.

We also take time to really listen. Every wedding we plan is tailored to the couple’s unique story, and we work with trusted local vendors to bring their vision to life. That said, if a couple has a specific request, we’re always open to finding new suppliers to create something truly bespoke.

Do you work with trusted suppliers?

Yes! We only recommend vendors who meet our high standards for quality, professionalism, and reliability. Whether it’s florists, caterers, or photographers, we have built strong relationships to ensure every wedding runs smoothly.

Where are your couples from?

Most of our couples come from around the world but have personal connections to the Alps. Many have traveled here for skiing, mountaineering, or family vacations and want to make Chamonix part of their love story.

Do your clients speak French?

It depends. Some Swiss couples speak French, but for many of our international clients, English is their primary language. Wedding planning isn’t yet common in France—many French couples still see it as a luxury— international couples often need more support navigating logistics.

Venues & Unique Weddings

How do you help couples choose the best venue?

Choosing a wedding venue in Chamonix comes down to:

  • Budget – One of the biggest factors in selecting a venue.
  • Availability – Some venues book up years in advance.
  • Guest Count – Ensuring the venue can comfortably accommodate everyone.
  • Ambience – Finding a location that matches the couple’s dream aesthetic.
  • Level of Service – If it’s a restaurant, food quality is also key!

Can you share a unique Alps wedding that you’ve planned?

One of the most memorable weddings we planned was in Courmayeur, Italy. The couple stayed in Chamonix but took their guests across the border for an outdoor ceremony in a village square.

Afterward, they spent the afternoon skiing and had an incredible mountain wedding photoshoot on the slopes. Since the groom was a freestyle snowboarder, it was essential to find a photographer comfortable skiing while capturing action shots. The day ended with a cozy, candlelit dinner back in Chamonix. It was the perfect mix of adventure and intimacy.

Do you plan weddings in remote locations?

Yes! Some of our most spectacular weddings have been in off-the-beaten-path locations. One couple got married at Brévent’s Panoramic Restaurant. Arriving by cable car at 2,500m just as the clouds parted to reveal stunning mountain views.

Tailoring the Wedding Experience

How do you create weddings that truly reflect each couple’s personality?

Empathy is everything. We don’t offer pre-set packages because every couple is unique. Instead, we personalise every aspect of the wedding. Whether it’s incorporating adventure elements, planning for weather contingencies, or organising ski-lift arrivals for mountaintop ceremonies.

Since 90% of our weddings take place outdoors, we always have a strong Plan B. Snow adds magic, but we also secure backup venues for rain. This ensures couples have a stunning setting no matter what.

Wedding Sizes & Logistics

What’s the largest wedding you’ve planned?

The largest? Around 200 guests. Since venues in the area usually can’t host really large groups, most of our weddings are around 80-90 guests. These often and span a three-day celebration. Couples usually arrive on Friday for a welcome dinner, wedding is on Saturday, and finish with a relaxed Sunday brunch. Many couples want their wedding to feel like a holiday. We ensure it’s a full experience rather than just a single-day event.

Common Wedding Planning Mistakes

What’s the biggest mistake couples make when planning a Chamonix wedding?

Underestimating the importance of photography. Many couples leave it as an afterthought. Once the wedding is over, your wedding photos are the only lasting memories. Choosing a photographer who understands the unique lighting and landscapes of the Alps is crucial.
